Administrative/Biographical history: D. Teifigar Davies (d.1961) was a minister of the Presbyterian Church of Wales in Bodhyfryd, Llangedwyn, Oswestry, Montgomeryshire. He was interested in the history of the Calvinist Methodist Movement, in Howel Harris, who brought the movement to Brecknockshire, and Calvinist Methodist historian Richard Bennett. Richard Bennett (1860-1937) was a remarkable Calvinistic Methodist historian who had received no formal education. He came from Hendre Cwm Pennant, Llanbrynmair and published several books. He copied several local parish registers, and the 'Trefecka Letters' in the supplements of the C. M. Historical Journal at the theological college of Trefeca, Talgarth near Brecon.

Immediate source of acquisition: Donated by his widow Mrs G. Davies, Llangedwyn, Oswestry.

Note: Title supplied from name of collector. Covering dates probably reflect the original material from which Richard Bennett's transcripts were made; the catalogue makes no clear distinction.
