Administrative/Biographical history: Percy J. Dobell and Son were antiquarian booksellers of Charing Cross Road, London, in the early 20th century. The material they acquired in the course of their work included documents relating to the history of Shropshire, Cheshire, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Montgomeryshire and Staffordshire.

Scope and content/abstract: Deeds and documents, 1280-1797, relating to Shropshire, Cheshire, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Montgomeryshire and Staffordshire, together with genealogical, heraldic and antiquarian notes, compiled c. 1745-c.1766 and [mid 19th cent.].

Appraisal, destruction and scheduling information: All records purchased by the National Library of Wales have been retained.

Accruals: Accruals are not expected.

Archival history: The documents have been sorted and annotated by an unknown Shropshire antiquarian in the mid nineteenth century, and some may been part of a collection of an earlier antiquary.

Immediate source of acquisition: Acquired (purchased?) by NLW, apparently as a single lot in 1924.
