CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: George Lewis (1763-1822), theologian and Independent minister, was born near Tre-lech, Carmarthenshire. Michael Jones (1787-1853), born at Neuadd-lwyd, Cardiganshire, was an Independent minister and the first principal of the Bala Independent College.

Scope and content/abstract: A collection comprising manuscripts and correspondence of or relating to the Reverends George Lewis, D.D. (1763-1822) and Michael Jones (1787-1853), both of Llanuwchllyn. They include drafts of Lewis's Drych Ysgrythyrol ... and Esponiad ar y Testament Newydd ... ; correspondence and other papers of George Lewis and a biography and genalogy relating to him; nonconformist documents and material relating to the North Wales Academy; correspondence of Michael Jones, Lewis Jones Davies and Dr A. L. Davies; poetry; a copy of William Gurnall's Cristion mewn Cyflawn Arfogaeth ... ; and miscellaneous items relating to Bala, Llanuwchllyn and district.
