CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: The Llwyn estate was owned by the Humffreys family of Llanfyllin from at least the late seventeenth century. It remained in the family's possession until around 1852 when it was purchased by John Dugdale of Dovecot near Liverpool. The Dugdale family still owned the estate or at least parts of it in the 1930s.

CONTENT

Scope and content/abstract: Llwyn estate records, mainly title deeds and abstracts of title, 1623-1932, together with a few business letters, plans, printed sale catalogues and rentals, 1855-1908, relating to properties principally in Llanfyllin (including the manor of Brithdir) and elsewhere in Montgomeryshire, and to a lesser extent in Denbighshire, Merioneth, Shropshire, Cheshire and Lancashire.
