Name of creator(s): Dickson family of Bailieborrow, County Cavan


Administrative/Biographical history: The manor of Kilkolhie or Bailieborrow was granted by Charles I to William Bayly in 1629-1630. A Stewart family appears to have held Bailieborough Castle for at least the period 1741-1793. The Dickson family appear to have been associated with Bailieborrow for at least the period 1804-1874. They were related to the firm of William Thomas Briscoe & Joseph Dickson of Dublin, woollen-drapers which was declared bankrupt in 1816.


Scope and content/abstract: Deeds, counsels' opinions and other papers, 1671-1922, relating to the Dickson family holdings in County Cavan, Ireland, including the manor of Bailieborough or Kilkolhie, and Lower Seefin and Ledunigan, and legal papers relating to the bankruptcy of Messrs Briscoe & Dickson of Dublin, woollen drapers.
