Name of creator(s): Jones-Parry family of Madryn


Administrative/Biographical history: Thomas Jones-Parry of Llwyn Onn, Denbighshire, married Margaret, daughter and co-heiress of Love Parry owner of the Wern Fawr, Penarth and Madryn estates in Caernarfonshire. Their eldest son, Lt.-Gen. Sir Love Parry Jones-Parry (1781-1853) inherited the Madryn estate. The estate then passed to his eldest son, Sir Thomas Love Duncombe Jones-Parry (1832-1891) who died without issue. The Madryn estate passed to William Corbet Yale-Jones-Parry (1825-1909), who had also inherited the Plas-yn-Ial estate in Denbighshire. The Madryn estate was subsequently sold to Caernarfonshire County Council.
According to the return of owners of land, Thomas Love Duncombe Jones-Parry, of Madryn, Caernarfonshire, owned an estimated 7,222 acres in Wales (in Caernarfonshire and Denbighshire) with an estimated rental of £5,178.


Scope and content/abstract: Papers relating to the Madryn estate, Caernarfonshire, mainly comprising accounts, 1834-1904, title deeds, 1806-1890; family correspondence, 1833-1868; and papers of Roger Edwards, Mold (1811-1886), Calvinistic Methodist minister and author, whose grand-daughter, Eleanor, married George Frederick Cunningham Yale, a descendant of the Jones-Parry family.
