Administrative/Biographical history: Humphrey Jones Davies served as Calvinistic Methodist minister at Llanrwst, Tregarth, Llandegai, Birmingham and Wolverhampton. He contributed to Welsh religious periodicals such as Y Goleuad and Y Seren.

CONTENT

Scope and content/abstract: Manuscripts and papers, [1748x1939], from the library of the Reverend H. Jones Davies although most of the material is not in his hand. The collection includes correspondence of Humphrey Jones Davies and others; material of or relating to Sir Henry Lewis and the Reverend John Phillips, Bangor, and notebooks and sermons of the Reverend Christmas Evans; Welsh poetry transcribed by Isaac Foulkes; deeds, documents and correspondence of mainly Denbighshire and Merioneth interest; and notes, sermons, essays, etc.

Immediate source of acquisition: NLW MSS 7816-7850 were acquired from the Reverend Humphrey Jones Davies of Llangollen in 1932. NLW MS 9677 was purchased from the Reverend Humphrey Jones Davies of Llangollen in 1935. NLW MSS 10980-10981 were purchased from the Reverend Humphrey Jones Davies of Llangollen in 1936. NLW MSS 12189-12190 were purchased from the Reverend Humphrey Jones Davies of Llangollen in 1938. NLW MSS 12672-12687 were purchased from the Reverend Humphrey Jones Davies of Llangollen in 1939.
