CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: Herbert Stanley Jevons (1875-1955) was Professor of Economics and Political Science at the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire, Cardiff, Glamorgan. His father was the mathematician William Stanley Jevons (1835-1882). Herbert Stanley Jevons was the first Secretary of the Abyssinian Association and the first treasurer of the Anglo-Ethiopian Society. He corresponded extensively with John Maynard Keynes. His publications include Material for Economic Equality in the Cooperative Commonwealth (1933).

Scope and content/abstract: Papers mainly relating to the published work of Herbert Stanley Jevons, 1895-1963, correspondence on overseas development, coal and economics, 1909-1949; correspondence on housing in Wales, 1912-1914; papers relating to Ethiopia, 1935-1955, including correspondence with Emperor Haile Selassie I, 1937-1953; letters between Herbert Stanley Jevons and John Maynard Keynes, 1930-1936.
