Administrative/Biographical history: Maurice A. Johnson (died [c. 1987]) accumulated a variety of genealogical papers while researching into the history of his family, who lived in Montgomeryshire, Merionethshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Middlesex, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.

Scope and content/abstract: Papers of Maurice Johnson, [20th century], comprising typescript research notes on and pedigree rolls of the Alexander family, formerly of Wiveton, Norfolk, and of Caister near Great Yarmouth; the Atkinson family, formerly of St George's Hanover Square, and Hillingdon Heath, Middlesex; the Johnson family, formerly of St Botolph's Aldgate, London, and of Little Gearies, Barkingside, Essex; the Jones family of Rhydyfen, Merionethshire; the Kerrison family, formerly of Kirstead, Norfolk, and Norwich; and the Lloyd family of Rhiwaedog and Plas-yn-Dre, Merionethshire. Also included are research notes on the Bellman family, formerly of North Runcton, Norfolk, and Wetheringsett, Suffolk; the Bowen family of Pen-y-Castell and Tyddyn, Montgomeryshire; and the Wynne family of Meyarth, Merionethshire; pedigree rolls of the Phelps, later Clifford, family of Chestal, Dursley, Gloucestershire, the Vizard family of Dursley, and the Swinley family of Henley-on-Thames, formerly of St Martin's in the Fields, London; charts showing Maurice Johnson's descent from Charlemagne, Rhodri Mawr and others; sketch maps and Ordnance Survey maps; and photocopies of miscellaneous probate documents, 1646-1906.
