CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: David Henry Williams was minister of Trecastle Calvinistic Methodist church, Breconshire, from 1912 to 1933. His father-in-law, Richard Watkins, kept a grocer's and general stores in Trecastle. Ty Newydd Calvinistic Methodist chapel, Trecastle, was built in 1765 and re-built in 1825 and 1963.

Scope and content/abstract: Account books, 1864-1932, of Richard Watkins, Trecastle, Breconshire, and an account book and manuscript roll, 1867-1923, relating to Trecastle Calvinistic Methodist church.

Accruals: No accruals expected

Archival history: Mrs Eirlys Watcyn Evans (see 541, above) stipulated that the manuscripts were to become the property of NLW upon her death. The manuscripts were originally deposited in NLW Minor Deposit 1056-1059.

Immediate source of acquisition: Deposited under the will of Mrs Eirlys Watcyn Evans, Tregaron, daughter of David Henry Williams, in 1970.
