CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: John Collwyn Rees (1919-1980) was Professor of Political Theory and Government at the University College of Swansea, Glamorgan, from 1955 until 1962. In 1971, he published his book Equality. He researched political theory, equality and justice, and was very interested in Marxism and Communism.

Scope and content/abstract: Research papers and correspondence of John Collwyn Rees, 1949-1979, including academic correspondence, 1956-1978, addressed to Rees; publications, lectures, talks, reviews and notes by Rees, 1953-1978, mainly on J. S. Mill; research papers on political theory, 1951-1979; papers on equality and justice, [c.1950]-1975; notes on Marxism and Communism, 1951-1974; notes on atomic warfare and disarmament, 1956-1963; notes on philosophy, [c.1950]-1980; and notes on freedom and liberty, 1960-1978; and miscellaneous papers, 1970-1981.
