CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: Dora Thatcher (1912-1985) from Newport in Pembrokeshire, was a writer of children's books. Her stories were published by the Brockhampton Press Limited in Leicester such as Henry the Helicopter and Tommy the Tugboat for children aged between five and eight. Her relationship with the author Joan Cass is unknown, except that they both wrote children's books and shared the same publisher.

CONTENT

Scope and content/abstract: Papers of Dora Thatcher, 1955-1977, comprising manuscripts, typescript drafts, proofs, research material and publishers' correspondence, accumulated during preparation of her published works in the series 'Henry the Helicopter', 'Tommy the Tugboat' and other titles, together with a typescript of The Witch of Witchery Wood by Joan E. Cass, 1973.
