Administrative/Biographical history: Gwasg y Brython was the publishing and printing business of Hugh Evans & Sons, Ltd, Liverpool, England. The business produced Christmas, birthday cards, and calendars, as well as publishing many Welsh books. It was founded in 1896 by Hugh Evans (1854-1934); Evans was the grandson of William Barnad (c. 1793-1867), and inherited his printed books. The company was sold in 1978 to Gomer Press of Llandysul, Carmarthenshire.


Scope and content/abstract: Records of Gwasg y Brython, 1758-1977, including sample books, 1912-1967; printer's specimen books, [c. 1920]-[c. 1974]; manuals and catalogues, [1920s]-[c. 1950]; miscellaneous publications, 1928-1965; printer's blocks and photographs, 1887-1934; miscellaneous family and business papers, 1812-1977; and books owned by William Barnad, 1758-1862.
