CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: The Neath Antiquarian Society was established in 1923, for the study of the history of Neath and district. It has acquired several archive collections whose origins can be demonstrated with some accuracy, which are listed elsewhere. It has also collected individual manuscripts whose provenance is more difficult to determine, but which relate to manors in the Neath area, which are described here.

Scope and content/abstract: Papers relating to the following manors in Glamorgan: Avon Wallia, 1601-1654; Bishopston, 1800; Cadoxton, 1602-[18th century]; Caegurwen, 1654-1935; Clase Llangyfelach, 1675; Coity Anglia, 1821-1865; Coity Wallia, 1807; Neath Burgus, 1639-1697; Neath Ultra and Cilybebyll, 1659; Newcastle and Cefn Cribbwr. 1830-1834; Newton Nottage, 1819-1851; North Cornelly, 1816-1861; Ogmore, 1734-1881; Priors Town alias East Town, Llangennith, 1802; Resolven, 1662-[mid 20th century]; Tythegston, 1861; Several manors in Glamorgan, 1757; papers relating to the following manors in Gloucestershire: Cowlesborne and Elkston, Gloucestershire, 1606-[early 20th century]; Painswick, Gloucestershire, 1761-1868.
