CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: Sister Shelagh Browne (fl. 1940-1960) was a teacher at Le Bon Sauveur Convent School, Holyhead, Anglesey. In the late 1940s and 1950s she organised a school project on the history of Anglesey, gathering together printed references, pictures, photographs and maps, making typed and traced copies of numerous sources, and also recorded gravestone inscriptions. She conducted much of the correspondence, but much of the research was undertaken by the pupils. Browne transcribed extracts from the University College of North Wales Penrhos Papers.
