CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: Capel y Gad (Calvinistic Methodist Chapel), Bodffordd, Anglesey, was founded in 1893; it had been built in 1842 as a branch of Llangwyllog; Robert Davies of Bangor was the architect. Around 1919 the Rev. Enoch Rogers became the minister, followed in 1929 by the Rev. Owen Roberts and in 1942 by the Rev. J. C. Evans. There has been strong emphasis on hymn singing in the chapel. In 1993 the chapel had ninety members. The chapel also collected records relating to other Calvinistic Methodist chapels on Anglesey, including Horeb, Bethel, Bryntwrog, and Llangwyllog.

Scope and content/abstract: Records of Y Gad Calvinistic Methodist Chapel, Bodffordd, 1893-1996, including notebook of the Committee of the new chapel, 1893-1894; account book, 1893-1902; committee minute books, 1921-1937; account book of the new vestry, 1934-1953; Sunday School records, 1931-1948; minutes of youth meetings, 1947-1964; annual reports, 1931-1936; and minutes of the officials committee of care and the pastoral care committee of Horeb, Bethel, Y Gad, Bryntwrog, Llangwyllog chapels, 1971-1996.
