Administrative/Biographical history: Eryl Wyn Rowlands of Amlwch, Anglesey, is a local historian, teacher and author of articles and books. He collected papers relating to John Roberts (b. 1858), from Ty Croes Fadir, Llaneilian; the Menai Bridge Brass Band, founded in the 1890s, and the shipping and shipbuilding industries in Amlwch. He also researched the composer W. Matthews Williams and the history of Thomas Ellis School, Amlwch, of which he was Deputy Headmaster.


Scope and content/abstract: Papers of Eryl Wyn Rowlands, Anglesey, 1793-1999, mainly relating to the Menai Bridge Brass Band, 1897-1968; diaries of a Mynydd Parys mine steward, 1831-1841; records of Captain Robert Jones of Amlwch, mainly correspondence, 1864-1927; papers relating to the ships Alliance, Cymric, Cwm Afon, Dominion, Lord Tredegar, Owenee, Sea Gull and Talus; papers of Amlwch Port shipbuilders, 1956-1959; Capel Mawr (CM), Amlwch, 1812-1977; Calvinistic Methodism, 1831-1943; Undeb Canu Cynulleidfaol Dosbarth Gogledd Môn, 1889-1930; politics, 1911-1999; photographs, many relating to Amlwch, 1891-1907, [n. d.]; miscellaneous, 1842-1959; shipping papers, 1864-1927; and papers of Eryl Wyn Rowlands, [20th century].
