Administrative/Biographical history: The Jones family of Glyn Derw, Bodwrog, Anglesey, were farmers during the 19th and 20th centuries and were linked through marriage to the Elias family. John Jones (d. 1883) left the farm of Gors-yr-eira-fawr, Bodwrog, to his nephew, John (1838-1922), son of his sister Elizabeth. John was married to Anne Elias Jones (1850-1922). Their sons included John Elias Jones (d. 1917), Edward Elias Jones and Robert Glynne Jones (fl. 1920-1965), who took over the farm before 1920. Robert married Ann Dorothy Williams. Edward Elias Jones of Brynllwyd, Llanidan, was also a farmer of Gors-yr-eira-fawr. The Elias family of Glyn Bodafon, Plas y Glyn, Llanfwrog, Anglesey and Llanrwst, Denbighshire, included Edward Elias (1800-1875), his daughter Anne (fl. 1868-1871), John Elias (1858-1890), Thomas Elias of Plas y Glyn, Llanfwrog (fl. 1892-1909).


Scope and content/abstract: Family papers of John Glyn Jones, Glyn Derw, Bodwrog, 1703-1993, including Jones and Elias family papers, 1703-1993; records relating to the farm and other property, 1877-1966; correspondence, 1785-1970; records relating to religion, particularly Capel Bryntwrog (MC), 1851-1986; records relating to social events, 1831-1976; records relating to weddings, 1909-1966; records relating to deaths, 1875-1992; photographs, [c. 1860s]-1988; miscellaneous, [c. 1820]-1968.
