CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: The Welsh chapel in Talbot Street, Dublin, Ireland, was built in 1838 as a mission to the Welsh seamen in the city. Over time the the congregation was extended to include Welsh people who worked in the city itself. The chapel remained open until 1939 when it was decided to close the chapel for the duration of the war. The chapel was sold in 1944, thus bringing to an end the only chapel of the Calvinistic Methodists that has existed in Ireland.
