Administrative/Biographical history: James Gandon (1742-1824) was a prominent architect who designed the new docks, stores and custom-house in Dublin. He was the son of Peter Gandon and a Welsh wife named Wynne. James's son was James Gandon. The family held estates in County Dublin which were sold in the 19th and 20th centuries.


Scope and content/abstract: Gandon family papers, 1845-1977, including photographs, newspaper cuttings and notes on James Gandon, architect, from 'The Life of James Gandon, esq.' by T.J. Mulvany.
