Administrative/Biographical history: Mold Urban District Council (UDC), Flintshire, was established under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1894. The Council comprised councillors and a chairman, elected for three years. UDCs originally took over responsibility for local sanitation from the local sanitary authorities and their responsibilities included sanitary services, sewerage, refuse collection, housing, streets, cemeteries (taking over responsibilities from Mold Burial Board), libraries, parks, controls on buildings such as petrol stations, and licensing of public entertainments. UDCs were administered by a number of committees and by appointed officers including a Clerk, Treasurer, Medical Officer of Health, Surveyor, Rating Officer and Sanitary Inspector. The Council inherited records of Mold Burial Board and administered Mold Cemetery by means of the Burial Joint Committee. Mold UDC was abolished in 1974, following local government reorganisation. Its main responsibilities were assumed by Delyn Borough Council. A new community council, Mold Town Council, was established in 1972.
