CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: The solicitors' firm of Joseph Lloyd and Co., based in Rhyl, Flintshire, active into the 1970s, had numerous clients in Denbighshire, Flintshire, Merionethshire, and elsewhere in Wales and England. These included the Maesgamedd estate in Gwyddelwern, Merionethshire, the Bodynlliw estate, Gwyddelwern, Merionethshire, and the Plas Meredith, Betws-yn-Rhos, Bodgynwch, Llangernyw, and Hendrewaelod estates in Denbighshire.

CONTENT

Scope and content/abstract: Records, 1302-1938, accumulated by Joseph Lloyd and Co., comprising deeds and other papers relating to the Maesgamedd estate, Gwyddelwern, 1739-1920, the Bodynlliw estate, 1625-1864, and other Merionethshire properties, 1726-1888; deeds and papers relating to properties in Flintshire, 1528-1938, in Denbigh and elsewhere in Denbighshire, 1495-1933, elsewhere in Wales, particularly Caernarfonshire, 1500-1880, in England, in particular Cheshire, 1302-1919, and Wicklow, Ireland, 1675-1847; leases relating to mines in Mold and Ysceifiog, Flintshire, and Bettws, Carmarthenshire, 1765-1878; settlements and trusts relating to clients in Flintshire, Denbighshire and elsewhere, 1810-1926; probate wills, mainly of Flintshire and Denbighshire people, 1743-1910; and miscellaneous legal papers, [17th century]-1884.
