CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: Civil parish councils were established by the Local Government Act 1894. The records can include minute books, financial statements, correspondence, copies of planning applications, and rate lists. Community councils replaced parish councils under the local government reorganization in 1974. Before 1974, Allington parish, near Rossett, had been located in the county of Denbighshire; it then came within the new county of Clwyd. In 1996, the county of Clwyd was replaced by unitary authorities, and Allington now falls within Wrexham County Borough. Allington is now a ward within the community of Rossett.
