CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: The Oddfellows are fraternal and benevolent societies, which originated in England in the 18th century. The Independent Order of Oddfellows (Manchester Unity) Friendly Society was founded in about 1810. A branch of the Independent Order of Oddfellows was located in Brymbo, Denbighshire, comprising at least two lodges, and was active between 1857-1965.

Scope and content/abstract: Papers relating to the Independent Order of Oddfellows (Manchester Unity) Friendly Society, comprising rules, 1915-1954, magazines and journals, 1953-1969; and records of the Brymbo branch, 1857-1965, including registers of fines, reports and statements of accounts.
