CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: The King's Hall, Aberystwyth, Cardiganhsire, was officially opened on 27 June 1934 as the Municipal Hall or Municipal Pavilion. Its aim was to provide, for Aberystwyth's growing number of tourists, a dance hall, theatre, and concert hall. The name was changed to the King's Hall in January 1937. The Hall was managed by Aberystwyth Coporation's publicity manager, and later the publicity and entertainments manager, from the Publicity and Entertainments Department of the Borough.
