Administrative/Biographical history: Ceredigion Archives has accumulated records of various Nonconformist churches in Cardiganshire. The Calvinistic Methodists were formed in 1811, now known as the Presbyterian Church of Wales; they adopted a presbyterian system of church government of a centralising character, in contrast with the Baptists and Congregationalists. Other Nonconformist denominations are the Wesleyan Methodists, Unitarians and the Quakers (Society of Friends). The Grail (Y Greal) is the magazine of the Calvinistic Methodist Theological College, Aberystwyth. Trysorfa y Plant (Children's Treasure) is a monthly children's magazine of the Presbyterian Church of Wales and Y Trysorfa and The Treasure are their monthly magazines, in Welsh and English. Tabernacle Chapel, Aberystwyth, was built in 1879, and closed in 2002.

Conditions governing access: Minutes of the monthly meetings of the Society of Friends, 1959-1992 are closed for 50 years: they may only be consulted with the written permission of the clerk of the Hereford and Mid Wales Monthly Meeting.
