CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: The Rev. John Edward Thomas (1875-1959) was a Wesleyan minister. He was born in Taliesin, Cardiganshire, attended Handsworth Theological College, Birmingham, and subsequently served as minister of various chapels in Wales. His last ministry was the Wesleyan Chapel at Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, [1940]-1947. He then retired to Taliesin, where he continued to preach and write articles for Welsh Wesleyan publications including Yr Eurgrawn and Y Gwyleidydd Newydd. His three sons included R. J. Thomas (1908-1976), editor of Geiriadur Prifysgol Cymru.
