Administrative/Biographical history: Lieutenant-Colonel Sir James John Hamilton (d. 1876), of Plâs Llanstephan, Llansteffan, Carmarthenshire, and Lady Hamilton, Marianna Augusta (d. 1892), née Cockburn, of Dolgwm, Pencarreg, Carmarthenshire, and Cefnbryn [unlocated], owned considerable property in Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Cardiganshire. This included the Jordanston and Dolgwm Estate, which had been left to Lady Hamilton's father, Sir James Cockburn, by Gwynn Gill Vaughan. Lady Hamilton left the estate to her cousin, Georgiana Augusta Yorke, and appointed three trustees, the Hon. Robert Charles Devereux, Hamilton Noel Hamilton Hoare and Algernon Bathurst, the younger; the trustees were active from 1892 to 1903.


Scope and content/abstract: Jordanston and Dolgwm Estate rentals, 1852-1891; trustees accounts, 1892-1903; and deeds, 1763-1942.
