CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: R. T. P. Williams is a firm of solicitors in Bridge Street, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, founded by Richard Thomas Propert Williams in the early 20th century. In the course of its work, it accumulated probates, letters of administration, sale particulars, title deeds and related papers relating to its clients' interests. Members of the firm also held several official posts in Pembrokeshire, including undersheriff, clerk to the Lord Lieutenant, and clerk to the magistrates, and accumualted records and papers relating to those posts. The firm became R. T. P. Williams and Son.

Scope and content/abstract: Papers of Messrs RTP Williams, Solicitors, including probate papers, letters of administration, title deeds and correspondence, relating mainly to Pembrokeshire families and individual properties, 1590-1991; papers relating to Great Western Railway Co., 1922-1939, including of the Fishguard Harbour Improvement Co., 1922-1930; the Milford and St Brides Bay Light Railway, 1916-1926; Milford Haven Trawler Owners and Fishermen's Association Ltd 1917-1930; Pembrokeshire County Council, 1915-1968; Milford Haven District Nursing Association, 1930-1948; papers from the firm's activity as Joint clerks to the Justices, Haverfordwest and Dewsland divisions, 1936-1939; Undersheriff of Pembrokeshire, 1939-1969, and Haverfordwest, 1940-1960; and Clerk to the Lieutenancy of Pembrokeshire, 1932-1965, and of Haverfordwest, 1924-1938.
