Administrative/Biographical history: The Pembrokeshire Territorial Army Association was active from the mid-19th century. The Pembrokeshire Rifle Volunteers and other Corps were grouped in 1861 as 1st Administrative Battalion, Pembrokeshire Rifle Volunteers; in 1880, it became 1st Pembrokeshire (Pembroke, Carmarthen, Cardigan and Haverfordwest) Rifle Volunteer Corps, divided into ten companies. In 1908, the battalion became 4th Battalion of the Welsh Regiment (later Welch Regiment). It was disbanded in 1967.
