CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: The National Farmers' Union was formed in 1908 and represents farmers and growers in England and Wales. Membership reached its peak in the 1950s with 210,000. The Pembrokeshire branch existed as early as 1917. It consisted of various committees, including an Executive Committee and Finance, Organisation and Legal Committee. Local branches within Pembrokeshire included Croesgoch, Dinas Cross, St Nicholas, Haverfordwest and Camrose, Letterston and Pembroke.

Scope and content/abstract: Records of the Pembrokeshire Branch of the National Farmers' Union, 1917-1991, including minutes of annual general committees, 1917-1974; minutes of local branches, 1918-1974; Secretary's files, 1954-1982; accounts, 1926-1972; general office files, 1922-1981; membership records, 1944-1963; circulars, 1969-1977; and periodicals, 1958-1991.

Conditions governing access: Restricted access. Correspondence files closed for 30 years after date of creation. Members' personal files closed for 50 years after date of creation.
