Administrative/Biographical history: Evan David (1724-1761) of Fairwater, Cardiff, Glamorgan, was the second son of Evan David (1690-1776) and Margaret David of Coity, Glamorgan. It was through Evan's marriage to Barbara Lewis, daughter of Lewis Thomas, that land in Fairwater passed to the David family. Barbara's twin brother died in 1795. Evan's brother, David married Mary Thomas, of Llanblethian, Glamorgan, sister and heiress of William Thomas, on whose death without issue, she became entitled to the Llanblethian property, a portion of which is still in the possession of the David family. Evan's grandson, Evan David (1789-1862) married Anne, daughter of Charles Williams of Cardiff. The estate then descended in the male line, the last reported owner being Major Evan John Carne David (b. 1888), whose heirs were all female. The estate included property in Denbighshire and Buckinghamshire.
