Administrative/Biographical history: John Thomas, of Llanbradach, Glamorgan, was succeeded by his son William Thomas (d. pre-1664), who married Joan Llewelyn of Rhydlafar in the same county. Their son, Thomas Thomas (fl. 1664) of Llanbradach and Rhydlafar, was succeeded by his son, William Thomas (fl. 1668-1675). His son, Thomas Thomas (d. 1720), of Llanbradach, was succeeded by his son, James Thomas of Llanbradach, who died in 1731 without issue. The estate then passed to his cousin, Thomas Thomas (fl. 1731), of Tredomen and Ystrad Mynach, Glamorgan. Thomas Thomas's son, William Thomas (fl. 1759), conveyed Ystrad Mynach to his brother, Thomas Thomas (d. 1807), under the terms of his father's will, but died without issue, when the estate was re-united. Thomas Thomas married Jane Griffiths, of Gellifendigaid in the parish of Llanwonno (the sister and heir of Richard Griffiths, who died in 1826), and he was succeeded by his two surviving sons, Thomas Thomas (1778-1859), of Llanbradach, and the Rev. George Thomas (d. 1860), of Ystrad Mynach. Thomas Thomas (1778-1859) of Llanbradach acquired Pencerrig (Radnorshire) in right of his first wife, Anna Maria Joanna Jones, of Pencerrig. Their only child, Thomas Jones Thomas, died, aged five, in 1810. For his second wife, Thomas Thomas took Bridget Gwynne ([c. 1783]-1857) of Llanelwedd (Radnorshire). In 1835, their child, Clara (d. 1877), married Henry Thomas (d. pre-1873), of Llwynmadoc (Brecknockshire). Their son, Evan Llewellyn Thomas (1839-1864), died without issue, and they were succeeded by their only surviving child, Clara Thomas, who died in 1914, also without issue. Llanbradach passed to the descendants of the Rev. George Thomas (d. 1860) of Ystrad Mynach. Llwynmadoc and Pencerrig were inherited by a second cousin, Henry Algernon Evan-Thomas. The Rev. George Thomas (d. 1860), of Ystrad Mynach, married Eliza Crawshay, and was succeeded by their son, George William Griffiths Thomas (d. 1885), who was succeeded by his son, Edward Llewellyn Thomas ([c. 1869]-1890). He was succeeded by his sisters, Katherine Ellen (fl 1889), Rosa Maud Mary (d. 1947) and Gwladys Jessie, who each left issue. The estate had substantial industrial interests, including coal mining, canals and railways, and gas and water supply.
