CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: Bridgend Local Board of Health (Glamorgan), was established in 1851, following inquiries conducted by G. T. Clark on behalf of the General Board of Health in 1849 and 1850. It covered the town of Bridgend, including most, but not all, of the lower hamlets of the parishes of Newcastle and Coity. The Local Board of Health was succeeded in 1895 by the Bridgend Urban District Council.

Scope and content/abstract: Minutes, 1851-1894; account book, 1859-1871; report of inspector, 1848-1849; report of inquiry, 1850; and general rate books, 1853-1894.

Conditions governing access: No restrictions. These records are stored in an outside repository. They should be ordered at least a week in advance of an intended visit so that they can be brought into the Record Office for consultation in the search room.
