Administrative/Biographical history: Caerphilly Urban District Council (Glamorgan) was formed in 1894, following the Local Government England and Wales Act. It took over the functions of Caerphilly Local Board of Health. The Council's area of responsibility was the parish of Llanfabon and the greater part of the parish of Eglwysilan. The Urban District Council ceased to exist on 31 March 1974. The majority was merged with Bedwas and Machen Urban District Council and Rhymney Urban District Council, and part of Gelligaer Urban District Council, to form Rhymney Valley District Council. The remainder was merged with Pontypridd Urban District Council, Llantrisant and Llantwit Fardre Rural District Council and parts of Cardiff and Cowbridge Rural District Councils to form Taff Ely District Council.
Scope and content/abstract: Council and committee minutes and reports, 1893-1974; declarations of councillors, 1895-1965; council diaries, 1908-1955; sealing registers, 1937-1965; registers of dwellings, 1938-1973; registers of notification of tuberculosis and infectious diseases, 1913-1972; building plans, 1889-1945; and accounts and rate books, 1958-1972.

These records are stored in an outside repository.
