Administrative/Biographical history: The Glamorgan History Society was founded in 1950, in order to promote the study of the history of the old county of Glamorgan. Originally named the Glamorgan Local History Society, the present title was adopted in 1966. From its inception, the society has encouraged research by both professional and amateur historians. The results of which provide the main articles in the Society's journal Morgannwg, which has been published annually since 1957.
