Administrative/Biographical history: The National Coal Board had inherited the leases, etc. for Tondu House, Bridgend, Glamorgan, from North's Navigation Collieries (1889) Ltd upon nationalisation in January 1947. In 1962, the NCB surrendered a 59-year lease negotiated with the ground landlords, the Merthyr Mawr Estate, from January 1947. In 1963, the decision was taken by the landlord to demolish the property.
