Administrative/Biographical history: The Penarth Corps of the Salvavation Army was established in 1882, in Penarth, Glamorgan. At that time it was housed in the Old Corn Stores in Salop Street. The Corps has occupied various premises since that time, amongst them the old Co-Operative at the Junction of Glebe Street, and St Paul's Lane and property owned by Penarth Motor Boat and Sailing Club. In 1968, Penuel Chapel, Plassey Street was leased to the Corps. By the 1980s, there was once again need for larger premises. It was decided to develop the existing site in Plassey Street, which was reopened in 1991.
