Administrative/Biographical history: Richard Williams (1789-1839; 'Dryw Bach') of Pantygerddinen, Aberdare, Glamorgan, was a farmer, auctioneer, wool merchant and poet, whose poems won prizes at eisteddfodau in Merthyr Tydfil and Cardiff. His son, Howel Williams (1835-1905), was Assistant Overseer for the parish of Aberdare and wrote a biographical sketch of Thomas Evans ('Telynog') of Aberdare, which prefaced the volume of Telynog's poetry, edited by David W. Jones ('Dafydd Morganwg'), first published in 1866.


Scope and content/abstract: Records of the Williams family of Pantygerddinen, Aberdare, [c. 1826]-[c. 1920], consists of: Aberdare parish records, 1853-[c. 1865]; miscellaneous papers found loose in the volume, includes, papers concerning poetry [c. 1826]-1864, miscellanea, [c. 1860]-[c. 1920]; and deeds of property in Aberdare and Merthyr Tydfil, 1868-1911.
