Administrative/Biographical history: The first minister of the first Cymer Independent (Congregational) church or Eglwys Annibynnol y Cymer was appointed in 1752 but little is known of its early history though it is reputed to have been established in 1740. The church is later described as Yr Hen Gapel (the Old Chapel) and is known to have assisted in the establishment of several other churches including Eglwys Annibynnol Castellau, Llantrisant. The register covers the ministries of Morgan Jones, 1787-1817, Thomas Davies, 1818-1825, and Joshua Evans, 1825-1855.
