Administrative/Biographical history: Civil parishes were established by the Local Government Act 1894. They took over some responsibilities previously administered by the (ecclesiastical) parish vestry. Llanvithyn [Llanfeuthin] Parish Council was created in 1894. In 1974 the parish merged with Llancarfan and Llantrithyd parishes to form Llancarfan Community Council.
