CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: Congregationalism has its roots in the Reformation during the sixteenth century. Its distinctive characteristic is that each individual congregation forms an independent local church. For this reason Welsh speaking congregations are also known as Annibynwyr. Bodringallt Independent Chapel was established in 1859. Ebeneser Welsh Congregational Chapel, Tynewydd was established c. 1871. Ramah Welsh Congregational Church, Bute Street, Treorchy (Treorci) was established c. 1903.
