CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: Gileston is a small ancient parish on the coastal boundary of the diocese of Llandaff, within the Eastern division of the rural deanery of Groneath Lower. It is situated approximately 12.5 miles South-East of Bridgend and 14.5 miles South-West of Cardiff in the Vale of Glamorgan. Its parish church is dedicated to St. Giles and was restored in 1904 at a cost of £1000.
