CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: St. Hilary is an ancient parish within the eastern division of the rural deanery of Groneath Lower in the diocese of Llandaff. It is situated approximately 1.5 miles South-East of Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan. The parish church is dedicated to St. Hilary and houses monuments to various members of the Bassett, Traherne and Edmondes families of Beaupre castle, which was situated in the parish of St. Hilary.
