Administrative/Biographical history: Nadine Vallender (nee Thomas) (1918-1992) worked as a clerk/typist before marrying Geoffrey Vallender, whom she met through Civil Defence where she sang in the choir. Her good contralto voice earned her a place in the then amateur Welsh National Opera chorus. Later in life she sang with the Splott and District Amateur Operatic Society, and was the society's musical director for some time before her death in 1992.
