Administrative/Biographical history: In 1689 the Baptists established a meeting house on a site in the present High Street, Swansea, then above the old north gate of the town. The site later became known as Baptist Court and remained in existence until the 1930s. The chapel was apparently no longer in use by the end of the 19th century.

Publication note: Transcripts of these documents are included in an article in The General Baptist Assembly Occasional Paper No. 6, 'The General Baptist Church and its Meeting House in Swansea, West Glamorgan' by Leonard Maguire. The article also includes an abstract of a letter from W. C. Rogers, the former Borough Agent of Swansea and a local historian. He gives details of the history of the chapel and its location. The booklet is available in the Glamorgan Record Office library, reference 123/39.1
