He moved to work at the C & A Infirmary in 1937 and was the first consultant obstetrician to be appointed by Caernarfonshire County Council. The maternity service initially based in a small ward at the C & A, expanded to become a well equipped modern hospital known as St. David's for obstetrics, gynaecology and paediatrics.
O.V. Jones was vice-president of the Northern Society of Obstetricians, and as well as having numerous papers published, he also undertook a heavy programme of lectures and papers to conferences throughout Britain and the United States. In 1963 he became a member of the University Court of the University of Wales Bangor and served as chairman of the council. He was also a founder of the Welsh Medical Society, Y Gymdeithas Feddygol, and an honorary member of the gorsedd of the National Eisteddfod of Wales.
In 1984, he published The Progress of Medicine : A History of the Caernarvon and Anglesey Infirmary.
