CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: Dr Arthur Maude of Forest Edge, Forest Row, Sussex was a brother of Miss Mary Maude, a superintendent of women students at the University of Wales, Bangor from 1893 to 1901. During the 1930's Dr Maude and his nephew Alan H. Maude of Petworth, Sussex tried unsuccessfully to find a publisher for Dr Maude's poetical translations.
