CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: Dr Edward Arthur Lewis, 1880-1942, historian, became the first Sir John Williams Professor of Welsh History at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. He is the author of The Mediaeval boroughs of Snowdonia; a study of the rise and development of the municipal element in the ancient principality of North Wales down to the Act of union of 1536 , 1912.

CONTENT

Scope and content/abstract: Notes on Welsh History, in particular north Wales in the Middle Ages, in the hand of Dr E. A. Lewis. Notes have been taken from a wide variety of sources, including the Record of Caernarfon, and some are published in his works.
