Administrative/Biographical history: Pantsaeson, in St Dogmaels , Pembrokeshire, was sold by William Frederick Lloyd James (b. 1872) to Mr and Mrs Robertson Williams. It appears that the first member of the James family at Pantsaeson was William James, in the first half of the 18th century. The family then resided there for six generations until its sale. Ioan Penry Brychan Robertson Williams, of Dolgellau, Merionethshire, was a solicitor, who bought the law practice of Charles Lionel Jones-Evans, in Machynlleth, Montgomeryshire, in 1938.


Scope and content/abstract: Deeds and related documents, 1728-1861, relating to premises in Breconshire, mainly in the parish of Llangynidr; deeds relating to premises in Monington and elsewherw in Pembrokeshire, 1796-1834; family papers of the Robertson family, 1810-1844; of the Williams family, 1785, 1830-1920; and Robertson Williams, 1877-1948; and printed books, periodicals etc, 1840-1947.

Archival history: The archive was found in Pantsaeson, St Dogmaels, Pembrokeshire, and placed on deposit at Pembrokeshire Record Office in 1968 and 1969.

Immediate source of acquisition: Transferred from Dyfed Archives in 1987
